On 26 April 2021, Faisalabad and Qingdao signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to develop sister city relationship between the two cities. The signing was performed by Ambassador Moin Ul Haque and Mr. Zhao Haozhi, Mayor of Qingdao. The LOI was signed as a part of festivities to commemorate 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China which is being celebrated this year.

On January 18. 2021, Ambassador of Pakistan, Moin ul Haque and Mr. Liu Jianjun, the Party Secretary of Jaiozhou District, Qingdao and Director General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Area (SCODA) jointly inaugurated Pakistan-China Centre in Jiaozhou District, Qingdao today. The Centre is aimed at deepening Pakistan’s linkages with the SCO member states especially China in diverse fields of cooperation.

Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
