Activity No.13: ‘Garlands of Love’ Launched at the Embassy of Pakistan

On 12 April 2021, a ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan to launch the book ‘Garlands of Love’, authored by Mr. Lu Shulin, China’s veteran diplomat and former Ambassador to Pakistan. The event was attended by the high ranking Chinese officials, Mission’s officers and representatives of media.

Ambassador Lu Shulin has penned the book to commemorate the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China which is being celebrated this year. Embellished with the historical pictures and stories of seven decades of Pakistan-China friendship, the book is aimed to pay tribute to the heroes of Pakistan-China friendship, record significant milestones of bilateral ties and bequest the finest traditions of Pakistan-China friendship to the younger generation of the two countries.

During his speech, Mr. Moin-ul-Haq, the Ambassador of Pakistan lauded Mr. Lu Shulin for his lifelong efforts to deepen Pakistan-China ties. He highlighted that due to efforts of distinguished diplomats like Ambassador Lu, Pakistan-China friendship has been strengthened and is finding due manifestation in ever-increasing political, economic and cultural engagements between the two countries. The Ambassador emphasised that Mr. Lu Shulin is a role model for the young diplomats of Pakistan and China and that his contributions to bilateral friendship would remain a continuous source of inspiration for the peoples of the two countries.

Expressing his sentiments at the occasion, Ambassador Lu said that ‘Garlands of Love’ is an ode to bilateral friendship between Pakistan and China and the officials and masses of the two nations. He highlighted that Pakistan occupies a special place not only in China’s foreign policy domain but also in the hearts of Chinese diplomats. Recalling his long association with Pakistan, Ambassador Lu said that he spent a considerable time in Pakistan which enabled him to explore and appreciate many facets of Pakistani society and civilisation. He expressed hope that young diplomats of the two countries would keep playing their role to elevate bilateral relations to a new pedestal as envisaged by the leadership and the peoples of the two countries.

Ambassador Sha Zukang, the President of China-Pakistan Friendship Association also addressed the event. A special video message sent by Mr. Nong Rong, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan was also played during the event.
