Activity No. 80 : Special Commemorative Event of 70th Anniversary and Pakistan Trade Promotion Forum

A special commemorative event of 70th anniversary and Pakistan trade promotion forum was held in Nanning today on the sidelines of 18th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO). 

The special event was attended by Vice Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Vice Minister of Department of Commerce of China, Secretary General of Caexpo, senior executives of many Chinese enterprises including China Road and Bridge Corporation, China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Company, and a large number of Chinese, ASEAN and Pakistani businesspersons.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Governor and the Vice Minister of Commerce highlighted  the landmark achievements of the last seven decades while stressing the significance of further strengthening Pakistan-China comprehensive strategic partnership through enhanced  trade, investments and economic integration under China Pakistan Economic Corridor and its SEZs. Chairman of China Gezhouba Group and Vice President of CRBC also spoke about their investment projects in Pakistan. The Forum was also virtually addressed by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Nong Rong and Additional Secretary of Paksitan’s Ministry of Commerce Syed Hamid Ali.

In his keynote address, Ambassador Moin ul Haque remarked that in the last seven decades of journey of friendship, Pakistan-China relationship has evolved into a timeless and time-tested iron-brotherhood. Mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual cooperation to advance peace and development has always been the cornerstone of Pakistan China friendship and cooperation. 
He said Pakistan’s trade with China particularly our exports to Guangxi and other regions in China have increased tremendously with the launch of 2nd phase of FTA and enhanced business collaborations through trade exhibitions. 
Ambassador Haque noted that the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is the flagship project of BRI is moving smoothly and transforming the socio-economic landscape of Pakistan. He said Pakistan government has shifted the focus to geo-economics making Pakistan a hub of economic activity and regional connectivity. 
Highlighting various incentives offered by Pakistan for foreign investors, Ambassador Haque encouraged business groups from China and the ASEAN region to invest in Pakistan. 
He also thanked the Government of China and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as well as CAEXPO Secretariat for providing Paksitan the opportunity to participate in CAEXPO as Special Partner Country for the second consecutive year, which would lead to a more robust and meaningful cooperation with this vital trade and investment promotion platform of Asia-Pacific.
