China Pakistan Science Communication Seminar was held on 21 July 2021 in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The seminar was jointly organized by China Association for Science and Technology and Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology. The seminar was part of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
The seminar was attended by eminent scientists from China as well as young science scholars from Pakistan based in Beijing and other parts of China. Dr. Shahid Mehmood Baig, President, Pakistan Science Foundation, joined the seminar through video link.
The Embassy of Pakistan in China was represented by Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai, Mr. Hussain Haider. In his keynote address, the Consul General underlined the need for strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and China in science and technology.
On the sidelines of the seminar, the local Government arranged a tour of Pakistani young scholars to different science and technology related institutions in Hangzhou.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
