Activity No.56 : State Bank of Pakistan Issues a Commemorative Coin to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations

On 10 June 2021, the State Bank of Pakistan issued a commemorative coin to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China.

The commemorative coin was launched in a special ceremony held at the State Bank of Pakistan which was attended by the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Mr. Reza Baqir, Governor of State Bank, Ambassador Nong Rong, high ranking officials and representatives of the media organisations.

In his speech, the Foreign Minister hailed Pakistan-China friendship and its role for prosperity and development of the two countries and for regional peace and security. The Foreign Minister added that over the course of seven decades, bilateral friendship has transformed into an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. He highlighted that the coin’s denomination has been kept at 70 reflecting seventy years of fruitful cooperation between Pakistan and China.

The coin is made of copper and nickel; it weighs 13 grams and has 30 millimetre dimensions. The reverse side of the coin shows official logo of 70 years’ celebrations which was launched by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and State Councilor Foreign Minister Wang Yi on 02 March 2021.
