Activity No.122 : Seminar on Iqbal Studies in China Held by Islamic University

On 22 November 2021, the Department of Urdu of Islamic University, Islamabad and Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) jointly organized a one-day international conference on Allama Iqbal Studies in China at its Faisal Mosque Campus. The event was held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China.

Dr. Husn-ul-Amin, Executive Director of the IRD delivered the welcome address and Dr. Humaira Ashfaq, Chairperson of the Department of Urdu gave an introduction of the conference and explained its objectives.

During the event, the online delegates presented their papers on the topic. Dr Liu Shuxiong, Head of Department, Hunan Normal University of China spoke on the research work being held on Iqbal’s works in the perspective of civilization and heritage. Dr Zhou Yuan, Head of Urdu Department of Beijing Foreign Studies University discussed translations of the poems of Iqbal and highlighted that Iqbal is part of the syllabus in various Chinese universities.

Ambassador of Pakistan, Mr. Moin ul Haque also attended the event and brief the audience about the efforts by Embassy of Pakistan to promote Iqbal Studies in China.
