To commemorate the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, Haripur and Yichang establishes Sister-City Relationship on 02 November 2021. During the grand inauguration ceremony of establishment of China-Pakistan Friendship Square in Wuhan, Ambassador Moin ul Haque and Vice Governor of Hubei Province announced the signing of the Letter of Intent on establishment of Sister-City Relationship between Haripur and Yichang which was signed in September 2021.
Both cities vows to carry out various forms of exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and education, agriculture, tourism, and personnel exchanges to enhance prosperity and development of Karachi and Wuhan.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
