The Commencement Ceremony of Pakistan-China Center in Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Area (SCODA) was held in Qingdao today. Mr. Liu Jianjun, Secretary of Qingdao’s Jiaozhou District Municipal Party Committee and Mr. Meng Qingsheng, Deputy Director General of the Management Committee of SCODA and other high officials from Qingdao Municipal government participated in the event. Ambassador Moin ul Haque was the Chief Guest at the grand ceremony.
Mr. Liu Jianjun warmly welcomed and congratulated the Ambassador on the commencement of Pakistan-China Center in SCODA. He said that this Center will open a new era of regional cooperation between China and Pakistan. It will add new dimensions to our All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. The Qingdao Municipal Government will redouble its persistent efforts to promote cooperation with Pakistan and make this Center a huge success.
While greatly appreciating the consistent efforts and support of Qingdao Municipal Government on development of Pakistan-China Center, Ambassador Haque said that commencement of Pakistan-China Center will further strengthen and solidify Pakistan’s all-round cooperation with China particularly with Qingdao. He hailed the project as one of the greatest flagship projects of future all-round cooperation. After realization, it would be the only such Center in the world. He expressed his strong confidence that Pakistan-China Center will usher a new era for practical bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, tourism, culture, science & technology, talent development, and people-to-people exchanges. Formal launching of this unique Center is a historic event as it also marks the 100th event for commemoration of the 70th anniversary of establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties.
In concluding remarks, Mr. Wang Zihai, Executive Director of Pakistan-China Center thanked Ambassador Haque for continued support and assured that he will make great efforts to ensure the Center’s timely completion and promotion of bilateral trade and investment exchanges.
High-level officials of Qingdao Trade Bureau, Qingdao Tourism Bureau, Qingdao Development and Reforms Commission, and representatives of Qingdao Habib Bank Limited, Askari Bank Limited also attended the event.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
