Activity No.48: Pakistan and China Sign MoU to Deepen Literary Cooperation

Pakistan Academy of Letters and China Writers’ Association have signed an MoU to deepen bilateral literary cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.

The MoU was signed during the 1st Pakistan-China Literary Forum held on 25 May 2021 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China. Ms. Tie Ning, the President of China Writers’ Association and Dr. Yousuf Khushk, the Chairman of Pakistan Academy of Letters signed the MoU.

The MoU seeks to streamline the ongoing literary cooperation between Pakistan and China and deepen exchanges between the respective literary organizations of the two countries both bilaterally and at multilateral fora.

Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
